Disney Slams FCC Review as Retaliation Against ABC Stations

The Walt Disney Company has filed a 109-page document in response to an early review of licenses for its eight ABC stations by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC's inquiry stems from a probe into internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs as part of the Trump administration's crackdown on corporate America.

Disney claims that the move is retaliation for its programming following attacks on President Trump by Jimmy Kimmel. The company argues that the FCC is attempting to insert itself into the network's editorial decisions, violating the First Amendment.

The dispute centers around 'The View,' a daytime talk show that has been granted an exemption from equal-time rules for political programming. ABC stations have been questioned about whether rival candidates were entitled to equal airtime under federal broadcast law.
