Home Depot Employee Arrested for Processing Unauthorized Refunds
A former Home Depot employee in South Florida has been arrested for allegedly using legitimate customer orders to process $5,133.52 in unauthorized refunds.
Marvin Colin, 28, is accused of accessing older orders with customers whose information had changed or who could not be reached, and issuing refunds without receiving the merchandise. The transactions occurred between June 6 and July 16, with some refunds going to a debit card unrelated to the original purchases.
The Home Depot management provided North Miami police with an asset-protection investigative packet documenting 13 disputed transactions, including transaction records, dates, times, register information, surveillance photographs, and other supporting documents. Colin's employee identification number was used for each of the 13 transactions, according to police.
