Disney Slashes Jobs Amid Cost-Cutting Efforts Under New CEO
Disney has announced another round of layoffs, with hundreds of employees impacted across various departments. The cuts are said to be smaller in number compared to previous rounds this year, but still a significant blow to the company's workforce.
The affected areas include tech and HR, while Disney's TV division and motion picture studio appear to have been exempt from the latest reductions. This is not the first time under CEO Josh D'Amaro that Disney has initiated layoffs, with previous rounds affecting 1,000 positions in April and several hundred more in July.
The company had offered a voluntary early retirement program for employees at or above the director level who are 50 years old or older and have been at the company for at least 10 years. The process concluded over the weekend, with some speculating that this may be a precursor to involuntary staff reductions.
