Disney Splits Logo in Bold Campaign for Hulu Content
Disney has broken the rules of branding with a bold new out-of-home campaign in Canada. The entertainment giant has split its iconic logo in half, merging it with the Hulu logo to create a playful text message-style tagline: 'Hu Dis?' The campaign promotes the fact that users can access Hulu content directly through Disney+, including popular shows like *The Kardashians* and *Scrubs*.
The ads, created by agency Courage, feature the divided logos alongside images from various Hulu shows. One striking example uses a close-up of Kim Kardashian’s eyes to emphasize the tagline. The campaign has garnered praise on LinkedIn, with one user calling it 'genuinely work to be proud of' and another expressing surprise at Disney’s willingness to play with its logo.
While most brands fiercely protect their logos, Disney’s decision to chop its wordmark demonstrates confidence in its brand recognition. Even half of the Disney logo is instantly recognizable, ensuring the 'Hu Dis?' question lands effectively. The campaign stands out among other clever logo-based ads from brands like McDonald’s and Corona.
