Disney+ Subscribers Threaten to Leave Over TikTok Partnership
The Walt Disney Company has partnered with TikTok to bring the social media platform's content to its streaming service, Disney+. This move will allow creators who opt in to a new program to have their videos appear on both TikTok and Verts on Disney+.
Verts on Disney+, an algorithm similar to TikTok's vertical video feature, was launched by Disney in March. Under the partnership, TikTok content will also be accessible through this algorithm.
The partnership has received backlash online, with some users expressing confusion about why they would want to see TikTok videos within the Disney+ app. 'Double ew. Why would anybody pay Disney+ (subscription) to see TikTok vids?' one Reddit user asked.
