Disney Taps Character.AI Ex-CEO for Top Tech Role
The Walt Disney Company has named Karandeep Anand as its first companywide Chief Technology Officer, effective October 2. He will report directly to Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro and oversee enterprise technology, infrastructure, data and AI platforms, product, and engineering across the company.
Anand brings over two decades of experience from companies such as Microsoft, Meta, and Brex. He most recently served as CEO of Character.AI, a startup focused on artificial intelligence, before being appointed to the new role at Disney.
The move comes as Disney seeks to modernize its technology capabilities and build direct connections with consumers across its entertainment, sports, and experiences businesses. Disney+ will serve as a digital centerpiece of a more connected Disney ecosystem.
