Disney Taps Insider Adam Smith for Streaming Business Leadership Role
Walt Disney has named Adam Smith as chairman of its streaming business. The move is part of the company's efforts to sharpen its focus on direct-to-consumer platforms, such as Disney+ and Hulu.
The appointment comes as Disney places greater emphasis on its direct-to-consumer business, which has become a key part of its strategy to distribute content, deepen engagement with viewers, and grow its advertising business. Smith will be responsible for strategy and development across Disney's global entertainment subscription video-on-demand business, proprietary advertising technology, and emerging technologies.
Smith joined Disney in 2024, while Earley, who has been president of Hulu since 2022, was appointed as president of Disney Entertainment Television Franchise and Content Strategy. This new role will focus on developing television franchises and maximizing their value across the company.
