The Walt Disney Company has partnered with TikTok to let social media creators make short-form videos using its famous characters, including Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar. This 'first-of-its-kind' deal will offer TikTok users access to Disney assets that can be uploaded and shared on both TikTok and Disney+. The feature is set to roll out in the US within the coming months before expanding to other countries.

Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, but it marks a significant move for Disney's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, who assumed his role in March. D'Amaro stated that the addition of short-form video content 'creates a more complete experience' on Disney+ and makes users stay longer and engage more.

The deal aims to boost usage of Disney+, which has around 130 million global subscribers. In the US, Disney+ is the third-most watched streaming service, capturing about 5% of watch time in May, according to Nielsen data.
