Disney Teams with Webtoon on Romantasy Comics Series

Disney Publishing has entered into a multi-year deal with Webtoon to bring around 100 comics from Disney, Marvel, 20th Century Studios, and Star Wars brands to the webcomics platform. The latest project is 'Disney Cursed Love', a romantasy comic series that will debut next year on Webtoon before being published in print format.

The first installment, 'The Curse of a Forsaken Heart', pairs the iconic Beauty and the Beast characters with new ones, as they get sucked into a magical world through an enchanted stained-glass window. They must help a princess lift the curse on her kingdom.

Disney Publishing executive editor Carlotta Quattrocolo stated that the publisher is 'already developing future releases across webcomics, graphic novels, YA fiction, and additional formats' as part of the multiplatform storytelling initiative.

The deal includes Disney's 2% equity investment in Webtoon and the development of a new digital comics platform. So far, over 20 comics from Disney have been brought to Webtoon, available in a dedicated section on the Webtoon app.
