Disney Tokyo Rebuilds Tomorrowland with New Coaster and Wreck-It Ralph Ride
Tokyo Disneyland's Tomorrowland is undergoing a significant transformation, with two new attractions set to open in 2027. The classic indoor roller coaster Space Mountain will be replaced by an entirely new build, called Space Mountain: Earthrise. This new coaster will feature a unique design with more curves and offer riders a fresh perspective on our connection to the planet.
The original Space Mountain closed permanently in 2024, and its dismantling has made way for the construction of the new ride. Additionally, Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters will be permanently closed and replaced by Disney's first Wreck-It Ralph ride, called Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue. This slow-moving journey through the Sugar Rush video game will feature Audio-Animatronics figures of Ralph and allow riders to help him blast rogue sugar bugs back to their original forms.
The revamp of Tomorrowland is part of a broader effort by Disney Imagineers to evaluate and improve longstanding theme park attractions. The new rides are expected to open in 2027, giving fans plenty of time to look forward to the changes.
