Disney Transportation Restrictions and Upcoming Refurbishments Cause Concern

Walt Disney World has announced new restrictions for its transportation systems, affecting buses, boats, and the Skyliner gondola network. The changes aim to improve efficiency and reduce congestion, but they may also impact guest experiences.

The new rules apply to resort buses and water taxis departing from Disney Springs, which can no longer be used freely by off-site guests for resort hopping. Guests must now show proof of a qualifying reservation or stay at a Disney Resort hotel before using these transportation options.

Additionally, the Sassagoula River Cruise route has been affected by refurbishment work, forcing guests to use bus transportation instead. The project is expected to wrap up soon, but guests should be aware that boats may not operate until official service is restored.

The Disney Skyliner system has also experienced delays due to loading issues earlier this month and will undergo a complete shutdown from January 24 through 30, 2027, for system-wide refurbishment. Complimentary bus transportation will be provided during the closure.
