Disney Unveils Asteria Community Concept in North Carolina
Disney has unveiled its vision for Asteria, a residential community in North Carolina's Chatham County. The planned development, part of the larger Chatham Park master-planned community, is Disney's second Storyliving community and will cover 1,500 acres with over 4,000 residential units.
The entryway concept art shows a design that reflects the natural beauty of North Carolina's Piedmont region, using dry-stack stonework from site-sourced materials like metavolcanic rock and quartz. A moon gate, an arched gateway that frames the landscape, will create a memorable moment of arrival.
Asteria will include amenities such as a wellness and recreation center, restaurant, sport courts, swimming pools, community garden, outdoor space for lawn games and events, and walking and biking trails. The Second Star Club, inspired by the celestial compass in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 1953 animated film 'Peter Pan', will offer members access to high-tech tools like laser cutters and fabric printers.
Enrichment programming rooted in the brand's entertainment universe is also planned, including storytelling dinners, lessons with Disney artists, and family fun days with Disney-themed activities. Sales for Asteria are expected to begin in 2027, nearly four years from now.
