Disney Unveils Intensive Training Program for New Cast Members
At Walt Disney World, new cast members undergo an intensive training program called Traditions to prepare them for their roles. This global orientation program is designed to introduce cast members to Disney values and establish a support system. The training is built around three key areas: what cast members need to know, believe, and do.
The first day of the training focuses on creating happiness, which is the overarching goal for everyone at Disney. Cast members are asked to share their favorite Disney stories or characters and discuss how they bring those stories to life in immersive experiences. They also receive a gift - a Mickey Mouse set of ears - symbolizing that they have 'big ears to fill.'
The training continues with an exploration of Disney's heritage, including its roots in animation and filmmaking. Cast members are encouraged to learn from the past and push the limits to grow into the future, delivering better guest experiences. They also participate in exercises that empower them to make decisions without needing to ask their manager every time.
