Disney Unveils Major Transformations for Walt Disney World Theme Parks
The Walt Disney World theme parks are undergoing significant transformations, with numerous new attractions and lands set to open in the coming years. At this year's D23 fan event, Disney revealed details about upcoming projects, including Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, Villains Land at Magic Kingdom, and a revamp of Animal Kingdom.
The most exciting announcement for 2026 is Monstropolis, which will bring the world of Monsters, Inc. to life with a theater show, restaurants, shopping, and a coaster attraction. The land will be set in a dark, enchanted forest filled with poisoned magic and the lairs of some of Disney's most notorious villains.
Villains Land at Magic Kingdom will feature two attractions: Maleficent-inspired roller coaster through a mountaintop fortress and enchanted briars, and a dark ride hosted by the Magic Mirror featuring a collection of Disney villains. The land will be roughly the scale of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
Animal Kingdom is also getting a major transformation with Tropical Americas, which will be home to the vibrant Pueblo Esperanza. This new land will feature several family-friendly experiences, including Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, a colorful carousel featuring 22 hand-carved animals inspired by Disney and Pixar stories.
