Disney Unveils Monstropolis, A Monster-Themed Land for Hollywood Studios

Disney's Monstropolis is a new themed land based on Pixar's Monsters, Inc. franchise that will open in 2027 at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando.

The land promises an immersive experience with a suspended rollercoaster as its centerpiece, which will launch riders 40 feet high in just four seconds.

Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative for the Walt Disney World Portfolio at Walt Disney Imagineering, described it as 'a showstopper' and credited the team's partnerships with Industrial Light & Magic for pushing the technology.

The ride combines old-school optical illusions with new physical effects to deepen the storytelling on the track. Before riders board the coaster, they will pass through a theatrical experience that features an original song written by Randy Newman exclusively for the park.
