Disney Unveils Piston Peak National Park: A Rocky Mountain-Themed Cars Land Expansion

Disney's largest Magic Kingdom expansion, Piston Peak National Park, is taking shape. The new Cars-themed land will feature two rides, an off-road racing attraction and a family-friendly option for younger guests. Inspired by the Rocky Mountains, Piston Peak replaces Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, classic attractions that closed permanently in July 2025.

A massive scale model of the land was unveiled at the 'Imagineering: Horizons' pavilion, revealing new details about the expansion. The model shows the winding track of the rally race ride and a previously unknown second ride similar to Mater's Junkyard Jamboree or Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters.

The surrounding buildings indicate how Piston Peak will be situated among existing structures and attractions in Frontierland, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The land's terrain features snowy peaks, rushing rivers, and an explosive geyser, with water flowing throughout. Familiar automobiles from the Pixar franchise are also visible in the model.
