Disney Unveils Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom
Disney's Magic Kingdom has undergone significant changes with the introduction of Piston Peak National Park, an immersive themed area inspired by the Cars franchise. Located in Frontierland, the park now features a visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, forest trails, and more, all designed to blend seamlessly into their natural surroundings.
The expansion includes two new attractions: an off-road rally racer with ride vehicles boasting distinct personalities and a family-friendly ride featuring Miss Fritter, the mud-splattered demolition derby champion from Cars 3. The closure of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America in July 2025 made way for the project, which has been described as the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom's history.
Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro noted that the American West is about believing in oneself and striving towards success, a theme echoed in the Cars universe. The company has maintained sightlines to keep the rest of Frontierland distinct from the Cars-themed area, which includes Villains Land, a new themed land expected to bring four new attractions to the park.
