Disney Unveils Slate of Upcoming Films and Announcements at D23 Event

The Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event brought together fans for an evening of announcements and exclusive reveals. Hosts Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan, who voiced Judy Hopps and Gary De' Snake in Zootopia 2, welcomed the crowd to a spectacular event. They were joined by Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro, who highlighted the company's connection with fans worldwide.

D'Amaro emphasized that Disney has a unique relationship with its audience, spanning generations and backgrounds. He noted that nearly half a million people visit Disney parks or cruise ships every day, while millions more watch their stories in theaters or at home. This connection reaches over four billion fans globally, who look to Disney for inspiration.

Disney Legend Anne Hathaway spoke about her experiences as part of the Disney family, dating back to The Princess Diaries. She welcomed Dana Walden, President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company, to open the showcase alongside Bart Simpson. Walden presented a sneak peek of the upcoming film releasing in theaters on September 3, 2027.

Pixar Animation Studios' Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter introduced exclusive looks at Incredibles 3, Coco 2, and Kingdom Hearts IV. He also announced a new original film titled Ghost Market, directed by Trevor Jimenez and Jesse Andrews. Additionally, Docter revealed a D23-exclusive look at Gatto, an animated adventure releasing on March 5, 2027.

Other announcements included the production of Lilo & Stitch 2, starring Maia Kealoha as Lilo, under the direction of Chris Sanders. Romy & Michele 2 was also announced, directed by Tim Federle and set to debut exclusively on Hulu in 2027. The third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was revealed, with an official teaser trailer for Disney+. The Bluey Movie was introduced, featuring a first look at the CG-animated film based on the beloved series.
