Disney Unveils Star Wars Reboot and X-Men Revival at D23 Convention
Disney's D23 convention kicked off in Anaheim, California, where the company unveiled its upcoming movie and streaming television plans to an audience of over 12,000 fans. The event is part of a three-day weekend that draws around 100,000 people through its gates.
The studio confirmed several projects, including a reboot of the X-Men franchise, set for release in 2028. Australian actress Samara Weaving will be part of the cast, alongside other notable actors such as Adam Driver and Ryan Gosling, who will star in Star Wars: Starfighter.
Disney's Marvel boss Kevin Feige announced the coming slate of Marvel movies, including Avengers: Doomsday, which brings together three superhero teams. The film is set to release in December. Additionally, a new television series, Vision Quest, was confirmed, which will air in October and stars Paul Bettany and James Spader.
The event also showcased several other projects, such as the 3D animated movie for Bluey, scheduled for August 2027 release. A sneak peek of Lion, co-produced by documentarian Mike Gunton, was also shown, featuring music from Hans Zimmer.
