Disney Unveils Upcoming Releases at D23 Event
Disney's D23 event brought together thousands of fans from around the world to experience exclusive first looks at upcoming releases from across the company. In a sold-out arena event, Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro kicked off the Disney Entertainment Showcase, highlighting the extraordinary relationship between Disney and its fans.
D'Amaro noted that nearly half a million people are in Disney's parks and on its cruise ships, while millions more watch Disney stories in theaters or at home. He emphasized that this connection reaches every corner of the globe and becomes part of people's lives and memories.
The event featured surprise celebrity appearances, exclusive footage, stunning musical performances, major announcements, and first looks at upcoming projects spanning Disney's film studios, television brands, streaming platforms, and live stage productions. Among the highlights was a sneak peek of the upcoming film 'The Simpsons' release in theaters September 3, 2027.
Other notable announcements included the sequel to the blockbuster film 'Lilo & Stitch,' scheduled for production later this year, and the CG-animated film 'The Bluey Movie,' set to arrive in theaters on August 6, 2027. The event also featured an exclusive clip from the highly anticipated film 'Ice Age: Boiling Point' and a taped message from the cast of the live-action retelling of 'Tangled.'
