Disney Updates Lightsaber Experience with New High Republic-Inspired Designs
Disney Parks has announced an immediate update to the lightsaber-building experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The change introduces a new hilt theme called “Protection and Defense,” featuring striking white finishes and gold detailing inspired by the High Republic era. This design honors ancient Jedi iconography and reflects a time of peace and hope in the galaxy.
In addition to the new hilt theme, all lightsabers now include enhanced features such as thermal cutting effects, deflection effects, a spinning effect, upgraded audio quality, and smoother blade activation. Guests can also pair their lightsabers with special “cracked” Kyber crystals to unlock a color-change effect, shifting from blue to red with a quick flick of the wrist.
The upgraded lightsabers are already available at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Advance reservations for Savi’s Workshop are highly recommended, and guests must purchase a lightsaber to participate in the interactive experience.
