Disney World Construction Boom: 16 Major Projects Underway

Walt Disney World is currently undergoing one of its busiest construction periods in years. The resort has 16 major projects underway, including new lands, reimagined attractions, renovated hotels, and updated restaurants.

The Magic Kingdom has the most high-profile construction with four massive projects. Villains Land is a highly anticipated expansion that will include two major attractions, themed dining, shopping, and an entirely new environment dedicated to Disney's iconic villains.

Another noticeable closure at Magic Kingdom is Carousel of Progress, which closed on July 6, 2026, for one of its most extensive refurbishments ever. The attraction is expected to reopen in 2027 with updated show scenes and a new pre-show.
