Disney World Construction Projects Uncovered Through Recent Permits
Disney World is currently undergoing significant construction projects, and permits are providing insight into upcoming changes. Most of the recent permits filed by Disney have nothing to do with the four main theme parks.
The majority of these permits are for locations in Disney Springs, a shopping district where visitors can find snacks, meals, Mickey ears, and other vacation essentials. Several businesses will undergo 'general construction,' including Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar, Crystal Art, Marketplace Snacks, Rainforest Cafe, Art of Disney, Wonderful World of Memories, Spice and Tea Exchange, Earl of Sandwich, Disney's Day of Christmas, Pin Traders, Once Upon a Toy, and Basin.
Disney Springs may see a general refurbishment in the future. While no specific details have been released about these projects, it is possible that some locations will be closed or renovated soon.
The permits also reveal construction plans for Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom. Disney has filed two permits for 'labor, material, and/or electrical for construction,' which indicates refurbishment or renovation work on the attraction's queue and facade as well as its building. Although no closures have been announced yet, it is possible that a closure will occur at some point.
Permits have also been filed for other locations across Disney World, including Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. For example, there is a permit for Electrical Work at Theater of the Stars in Hollywood Studios, home to Beauty and the Beast, Live On Stage. Two permits were also filed for General Construction at the former Restaurantosaurus in the new Tropical Americas area of Animal Kingdom.
