Disney World Embarks on Mass Hiring Spree Amid Massive Expansion Plans
Disney World is on a hiring spree, planning to add 5,000 new jobs in Central Florida over the next five years. This massive expansion comes as the company prepares to open several new lands and attractions, including a Cars-themed expansion at Magic Kingdom, Pueblo Esperanza at Animal Kingdom, and Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios.
The new hires will bring Disney World's total workforce to around 85,000 Cast Members, making it the largest single-site employer in the US. According to Disney Ambassador Kylee Withers, some of these roles will be behind-the-scenes positions that help create an immersive experience for guests.
This news comes after Disney's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, announced efforts to restructure the company at the corporate level, including some layoffs. However, it seems that the impact on Cast Members has been minimal, with three out of five Disney leaders beginning their careers in hourly roles and staying with the company for an average of 12 years.
