Disney World Expands Workforce by Thousands Amid Major Resort Growth
The Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida is expanding its workforce by more than 5,000 jobs over the next five years. This growth comes as part of a major era for the resort, with several new experiences and attractions under construction.
Disney Careers lists numerous opportunities beyond the traditional roles of operating rides or serving food, including positions in culinary arts, hotel operations, engineering, horticulture, marketing, data science, and more. According to Disney Ambassador Kylee Withers, 'There's a whole operation behind the scenes, and those cast members are laying the foundation to help create that experience.'
Many of these jobs offer opportunities for advancement, with three out of five company leaders having started in hourly roles. The average tenure for full-time Cast Members in professional, leadership, or skilled positions is 12 years.
The Disney College Program allows college students and recent graduates to live, learn, and work at Walt Disney World while gaining professional experience. Participants receive weekly pay, complimentary theme park admission, and other perks.
