Disney World Extends Resort Refurbishments and Skyliner Closure
Walt Disney World guests are facing extended disruptions as two resort refurbishments and a Skyliner closure stretch beyond initial timelines. The Hospitality House at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, which includes the lobby and key amenities, was set to finish exterior maintenance by mid-September 2026. However, Disney has updated the project to run through the fall of 2026, meaning visitors this autumn should expect ongoing work near the lobby area.
The BoardWalk Inn’s refurbishment, originally scheduled to conclude in late 2026, has also been extended into 2027. Additionally, routine maintenance at the Luna Park Pool and other areas will take place from January to April 2027. Meanwhile, the Disney Skyliner will undergo refurbishment from January 24 to January 30, 2027, with buses and boats serving as temporary alternatives.
While these changes may not warrant trip cancellations, they do require extra planning. Guests are advised to check refurbishment notices before booking and upon arrival, as dates can shift. Requesting rooms away from construction zones and planning park activities to avoid peak noise times can help mitigate disruptions. The Skyliner closure, in particular, may impact travel plans for those relying on its convenience.
