Disney World Fire Department Sheds Old Name

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has finally completed its transformation from the Reedy Creek Improvement District. In February 2023, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law changing the way the district operated since its inception.

One of the necessary changes was for every organization within the district to adopt a new name. The Walt Disney World Fire Department, which is part of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, has been slow in adopting its new name, but it has finally done so.

The fire department building has also undergone some changes. The large RCFD letters that used to be on the building have simply had the first two letters removed, leaving only 'FD.'
