Disney World Kicks Off 55th Anniversary Celebrations with Hurly-Burly Lounge and More
Disney World is preparing for another busy week of changes and updates in October. The first week of the month marks a milestone birthday for Disney World, as it celebrates its 55th anniversary since opening its doors in 1971.
The celebration will kick off with the grand opening of Hurly-Burly Lounge on October 1st, which will offer family-friendly activities and trivia games during the day and live music at night. However, this new entertainment destination will coincide with the permanent closure of Atlantic Dance Hall, which will only be open for private events from then on.
In other news, four food booths - Coastal Eats, Earth Eats, India, and The Alps - will finally open their doors at EPCOT on October 2nd. Additionally, the Diamond Horseshoe in the Magic Kingdom will transform into a limited-time pop-up experience starting on October 4th.
Several resort closures and refurbishments are also scheduled to take place during this time, including Scat Cat's Club Refurb Closure on October 6th and Olivia's Cafe eliminating its brunch offering on the same day. Lastly, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be held on multiple nights throughout the week.
