Disney World Marks 55 Years as 'The Most Magical Place On Earth'
Walt Disney World marked its 55th anniversary on October 1st. The resort has grown significantly since opening in 1971 as a single theme park, Magic Kingdom, and two hotels.
The current Walt Disney World is comprised of four theme parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, and dozens of resorts, cementing its status as a world-renowned vacation destination.
In celebration of this milestone, Walt Disney World President Joe Schott shared a message with guests in the My Disney Experience app:
"Today, we celebrate 55 years of The Most Magical Place On Earth. Thank you for including Walt Disney World in your lives. Here's to the memories we've made together and all that's still to come," said Schott.
The message accompanies a new 55th anniversary logo featuring Cinderella Castle within a classic Mickey silhouette, surrounded by fireworks and a pennant reading "Florida"
