Disney World Railroad Closing for One Month Refurbishment in Fall 2026
The Walt Disney World Railroad will be closed for approximately one month in October 2026 as part of a routine refurbishment. The closure is scheduled to begin on September 28 and end on October 29, with the trains set to reopen on October 30.
According to Disney officials, the reason for the closure is not specified beyond it being a necessary maintenance task. However, based on previous closures, our best guess is that track maintenance will be performed during this time.
The WDW Railroad has been operating in shuttle mode since July 2025, with trains running from Main Street USA to Storybook Circus and back without making the traditional Grand Circle Tour loop.
This modification was made due to construction on Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land in Frontierland. The railroad's track may be re-routed or a new station could be built in Villains Land once the projects are completed, possibly as soon as 2030.
