Disney World Rope Drop Guests Left in the Dark by Technical Issues

The Walt Disney World Resort's rope drop policy allows guests to access popular attractions before crowds build up. However, data from Touring Plans Blog shows that hundreds of guests were shut out of accessing several attractions during the week of August 18-24.

Magic Kingdom was hit the hardest, with Tomorrowland's PeopleMover experiencing a 19% rope drop downtime rate, followed by Big Thunder Mountain at 16%. Other popular attractions like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and 'it's a small world' also experienced frequent hiccups.

EPCOT's Journey Into Imagination With Figment topped the list with a 27% rope drop downtime rate, while World Showcase's Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion saw 14% downtime. Hollywood Studios was not immune to issues either, with Slinky Dog Dash experiencing a 23% downtime rate.

Animal Kingdom bucked the trend entirely, reporting no rope drop downtime issues across any of its attractions for the week. The data suggests that Disney's older dark rides and newer headliners are experiencing consistent early-morning technical or operational snags.
