Disney World Shifts from Closures to Openings Amid Refurbishments and Construction
This week marked a turning point for Disney World as it shifted from closures to openings. After months of temporary and permanent closures, including The Diamond Horseshoe, Carousel of Progress, and Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, several new attractions and restaurants opened their doors. Hurly-Burly, a new lounge at Disney's BoardWalk, and the Cole Haan store in Disney Springs are among the latest additions to the resort.
However, not all is rosy as some popular spots continue to be affected by refurbishment or construction. The Walt Disney World Railroad has temporarily closed for maintenance, with an expected reopening on October 30th. The Carousel of Progress will remain closed until 2027, while the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have been permanently closed to make way for Piston Peak National Park.
Additionally, several restaurants and stores are undergoing refurbishment or construction. Coral Reef Restaurant has closed for renovation, with reservations available again on November 4th. La Signature in the France Pavilion is also closed for refurbishment, while sections of the Germany Pavilion are seeing construction work.
