Disney World Tightens Guest Rules for Christmas Season
Walt Disney World is implementing new guest restrictions for the upcoming Christmas season, aiming to manage the high volume of visitors during this busy time. The changes include limitations on resort decorations, separate ticket requirements for holiday parties, and stricter transportation rules. Disney has confirmed that the large gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will not return, replaced by smaller gingerbread displays. Other resort decorations, such as the castle at the Contemporary and the carousel at the Beach Club, are expected to return as usual.
Disney World hosts two separately ticketed holiday parties: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On party days, the parks close early to the general public, meaning guests who want to enjoy both a full day in the park and the party will need two tickets. Alternatively, guests can opt for a Park Hopper ticket or choose to attend only the party.
Transportation to Disney Springs has also seen changes, with buses and boats now requiring guests to show a valid hotel or dining reservation to board. This rule, previously in place during peak seasons, is now permanent. Additionally, mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app may be restricted to resort guests during peak times, though in-person ordering remains an option.
Another potential change involves the Polynesian Village Resort’s beach, a popular spot for viewing Magic Kingdom fireworks. In the past, access to this area has been restricted to resort guests only, and visitors should be prepared with a backup viewing location in case this rule is enforced again this holiday season.
