Disney World to Add Thousands of Jobs as Cast Member Workforce Grows

Walt Disney World is on track to add more than 5,000 jobs over the next five years, bringing its total cast member workforce to around 85,000. The company currently employs 80,000 people across thousands of roles, from operations to professional positions.

The Walt Disney World Ambassador, Kylee Withers, described the workplace as a 'support community' that provides incredible benefits and perks, including career growth opportunities. Four out of five cast members choose to remain with the company, with an average tenure of 12 years in professional roles, roughly three times the national average.

New hires attend Disney University's Traditions program, where they learn about Disney's culture, values, and guest experience. The company supports advancement through leadership development and educational opportunities, including Disney Aspire. Some cast members take their careers behind the scenes to Disney's Costuming team, which supports what Disney describes as the largest working wardrobe operation in the world.

Michael, a costumer, started his career in the Walt Disney World College Program. He said working in costuming allows him to bring his passion to Disney's storytelling and creative arts. The company also points to benefits and support programs for cast members, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, health centers, educational programs, and wellness resources.
