Disney World's Multi-Year Expansion Unveils New Rides and Attractions
Walt Disney World is gearing up for a major expansion with new rides and attractions at all four theme parks. The latest updates include a new land dedicated to Disney Villains, a Monstropolis area based on Monsters, Inc., and a reimagined Carousel of Progress ride.
Tropical Americas, a new land coming to Animal Kingdom, will feature an 11-acre immersive experience with attractions like Encanto and Indiana Jones rides. The area's name was changed from Tropical Americas: Pueblo Esperanza, and the description now highlights the joyful Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto and action-packed Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent.
Monstropolis, a land based on Monsters, Inc., is also under construction at Hollywood Studios. The initial description included a suspended roller coaster, but this detail was removed to avoid confusion about what's opening first. Disney has confirmed that parts of Monstropolis will open in 2027, including a new theater show and dining options.
The classic Carousel of Progress ride at Magic Kingdom is being overhauled and will reopen in spring 2027 with updated scenes from recent decades.
