Disney World's Timeless Attractions Still Delight Visitors After 55 Years
Walt Disney World in Florida opened its doors on October 1, 1971, more than four years after Walt Disney's passing. The park was a culmination of his vision for a 'Most Magical Place on Earth' and was named in his honor by his brother Roy.
The original Magic Kingdom had 5,500 cast members and featured many rides that are still operational today. Among them are the Mad Tea Party, It's a Small World, Jungle Cruise, Tomorrowland Speedway, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, The Haunted Mansion, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Peter Pan's Flight, and Walt Disney World Railroad.
These attractions have undergone some changes over the years, but their core experience remains the same. For instance, the Mad Tea Party ride has retained its spinning teacup design since its opening day, while It's a Small World has updated its dolls' costumes periodically.
