Disneyland Paris Convicted in Technician's 2016 Electrocution Death

A Disneyland Paris maintenance technician died in 2016 after being electrocuted on the job. Ten years later, the park's operator, Euro Disney Associés, has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and fined €225,000.

The incident occurred inside Phantom Manor, a popular dark ride attraction at the park. The victim, identified as Olivier, was 45 when he was electrocuted on April 2, 2016, while working on a projector bulb in the upper technical areas of the ride.

An investigation found multiple safety concerns surrounding the work environment, including a degraded electrical cable and a cramped, dark workspace at height. The court's guilty verdict holds Euro Disney criminally responsible for Olivier's death and highlights concerns about workplace safety behind the scenes at theme parks.
