Disneyland Prepares for Grand Opening with Behind-the-Scenes Tour
On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney gave a final pre-opening report on Disneyland's preparations. He began by showing a large map of the site and then introduced Winston Hibler, who provided a behind-the-scenes tour of how Studio technicians designed and built the rides and shows.
The technicians used innovative methods to create the unique attractions, including Audio-Animatronics technology. Hibler showed the audience how the systems were integrated into the park's infrastructure.
Disneyland was scheduled to open in just a few days, and Walt Disney wanted to ensure that every detail was perfect. He was known for his attention to detail, and it paid off as Disneyland went on to become one of the most iconic theme parks in the world.
