Disneyland Unveils Unique Avatar Land Inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, Walt Disney Imagineering unveiled the first physical look at Disneyland's Avatar Land. Unlike Pandora - The World of Avatar from Walt Disney World, which is based on James Cameron's original film, the new land will be a unique oceanic adventure inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water and its sequels.
The stunning model showcases a coastal biome with towering wave-like rock formations, cascading waterfalls, and lush marine bioluminescence. A highly ambitious boat ride will be at the heart of this new destination, featuring both indoor and outdoor segments that transition from tranquil moments to intense encounters with unpredictable dangers.
Disney is redeveloping a massive portion of Hollywood Backlot to bring the oceans of Pandora to Anaheim. The classic Pixar dark ride, Monsters, Inc., Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, will remain open until early 2027 to accommodate families while other resort construction progresses.
