Disneyland's Tomorrowland Gets $1 Billion Makeover with New Attractions and Open Spaces
Disneyland's iconic Tomorrowland is set to undergo a major overhaul, according to Walt Disney Imagineering. The announcement was made at D23, a convention for Disney fans. The makeover aims to bring new attractions and more open spaces to the area, which has been in need of renovation for some time.
Imagineer Emily 'Emo' O'Brien emphasized that the team will not ignore the land's history, but rather build upon it with a sense of optimism. The reimagined Tomorrowland will include new attractions and more room for guests to breathe. 'We want to keep the heritage and responsibility to honoring that legacy at the center, but we have to evolve it for our new generations,' O'Brien said.
The renovation is part of a larger transformation plan for Disneyland's original area, which includes projects such as the Avengers Campus expansion and the Coco boat ride. The makeover will take place over the next decade or so and will be completed after the completion of several other projects currently underway at Disney California Adventure.
