Disney's Animal Care Team Feeds Over 5,000 Animals Daily
Walt Disney World's animal care team is responsible for feeding over 5,000 animals from more than 300 species. These animals eat a staggering 10,000 pounds of food every day.
The team has four nutritionists who design diets for each animal. They also have a team that prepares the meals and a delivery team to bring them to their enclosures.
Each animal requires a different diet, with over 1,200 unique plans in place. The gorillas, for example, are fed behind mesh barriers due to their size and strength.
Bakari, Disney's newest silverback gorilla, has a fondness for black beans, while his morning treat is a cup of wildberry tea.
The team also cares for smaller animals like peanut the aardvark. They find joy in seeing the reactions of guests who get to meet these incredible creatures up close.
