Disney’s Animal Kingdom Removes Lanterns from Asia Area
Walt Disney World Resort has recently removed decorative hanging lanterns from the Asia area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The colorful lanterns, which matched the aesthetic of the Anandapur Theater’s entrance, were part of the Feathered Friends in Flight! show’s exterior. Only the colorful lightbulbs remain, suspended at various heights from wires above the guests’ heads. The reason behind the removal, whether for maintenance, replacement, or a permanent change, remains unclear.
Feathered Friends in Flight! has been a staple at Disney’s Animal Kingdom since 2020, featuring live birds and their keepers to educate visitors about various avian species. The 35-minute show replaced two previous bird-focused attractions: “UP! A Great Bird Adventure,” inspired by the 2009 film Up, and Flights of Wonder, which debuted when the park opened in 1998. The showtimes for Feathered Friends in Flight! and other live offerings can be checked via the My Disney Experience app or posted entertainment schedules at the park.
Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly commented on the removal of the lanterns, leaving guests and fans to speculate about the changes. The removal has sparked discussions among visitors, with some wondering whether new decorations will be added in the future.
