Disney's Carousel of Progress to Reopen in Late Spring 2027 with Major Updates
The Carousel of Progress, a classic Tomorrowland attraction at Disney's Magic Kingdom, has been closed for refurbishment since July 2026. The overhaul will be the most extensive in the attraction's history and is expected to bring significant changes to the experience.
One of the major updates will include the addition of Walt Disney himself as an Audio-Animatronic figure in a new introductory scene, giving guests another opportunity to connect with the man who helped create the attraction for the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair.
The refurbishment also includes reimagining portions of the attraction's familiar scenes and decades represented throughout the experience. The update will refresh the journey while keeping the central idea intact, showing how technology changes everyday life over time through the story of an American family.
