Disney's Clay Animated Original Starring Kieran Culkin Arrives in 2028

Disney Animation Studios has announced its latest animated original, 'Clay', which will hit theaters in November 2028. The film follows the story of Flip, a hapless mentor character played by Kieran Culkin, who is chosen to guide a young ball of clay named Mushy on an adventure. According to Disney's chief creative officer Jared Bush, 'Clay' answers the question of what if the traditional mentor character was actually bad at their job.

The film will be directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn, who has previously worked on projects such as 'Wish' and 'Raya and the Last Dragon'. Veerasunthorn's experience in fantasy world-building and storytelling is expected to bring a unique perspective to the project. The production art shared at D23 showcased a fantastical world with imagery inspired by Jeff Smith's 'Bone' saga.
