Disney's Coven Academy Premieres with Magic, Romance, and a Hint of Danger

Disney's new supernatural teen series, Coven Academy, is set to premiere on Freeform on October 1 and then become available in full on Disney+ and Hulu on October 2. The 21-episode show follows teenagers as they navigate magic, friendships, romance, and secrets at a boarding school in New Orleans.

The main characters are Briar, a New Yorker who discovers she is a witch, Sasha, Tegan, Jake, and Ollie - all students at the school. The series explores themes of identity, power, and loyalty as the teenagers form their own coven. Along the way, they encounter mysterious threats and develop romantic relationships.

The cast includes Malina Pauli Weissman as Briar, Malachi Barton as Jake, Jordan Leftwich as Sasha, Ora Duplass as Tegan, and Louis Thresher as Ollie. Parents may recognize Tiffani Thiessen as the school's head, Miss Graves, and Devon Sawa as warlock professor Mr. Cole.

Critics have praised Coven Academy for its edgier approach to Disney's family entertainment, with one review calling it 'a lot of fun'. However, some reviewers have noted that the pacing is somewhat rushed and that some storylines require more development.
