Disney's Fantasy Football Frenzy: Messi and the Giants Hits Disney+
Disney is set to release an animated series called Messi and the Giants, featuring Lionel Messi as the main character. The show is not a biopic, but rather a fantasy story where a 12-year-old version of Messi finds himself trapped in an alternate reality ruled by giants.
To escape this world, Messi must participate in football-like battles using powerful orbs, competing against opponents who possess 'code powers'. However, unlike his adversaries, Messi relies on skill, teamwork, and determination to succeed.
The series has been acquired and distributed by Disney, with Messi himself serving as an executive producer alongside his father. The animation is being handled by Atlantis, a studio based in the Canary Islands, which previously worked on Miraculous Ladybug. The show will premiere globally on Disney+ in summer 2027.
