Disney's Fiscal Year Begins Amid Low Expectations
Walt Disney Co., parent of Disney and its various subsidiaries including ESPN and Marvel Studios, will begin fiscal year 2027 this week. However, investors will have to wait until November for quarterly results.
The company has several events scheduled in October that may be of interest to investors. On October 7, Disney will announce details about the ninth cruise ship in its fleet, 'Disney Believe,' which will begin sailing in late 2027.
Additionally, on October 9, an ESPN Films documentary featuring NBA player Stephen Curry will be released exclusively at IMAX theaters across the country. The film, titled 'Portrait of an Artist: Stephen Curry,' was shot with IMAX cameras and covers Curry's journey to a significant milestone in his basketball career.
The only major theatrical release this month is 'Whalefall' on October 16, based on a novel about a diver trapped inside a whale. The movie will be released by Disney's 20th Century Studios and does not have high expectations.
