Disney's Hollywood Studios Gets Solar-Powered Trash Cans

Disney's Hollywood Studios has introduced new solar-powered trash cans on Hollywood Boulevard. The Bigbelly Smart Max units are designed to compact waste as it collects, reducing the need for frequent emptying by cast members.

The bins feature a labeled 'Trash' or 'Recycle' opening with a foot pedal, eliminating the need for direct contact. They also include sensors that track fullness levels and send data to cast members, ensuring timely emptying before overflow occurs.

The new cans are identical to those already rolled out at EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom but come in a different color and design specifically for Hollywood Studios.

With their solar-powered design, the bins require no wiring, and their compactors can hold up to 5-10 times more trash than standard bins before needing collection.
