Disney's Housekeeping Cast Members Receive Extensive Training for Safety and Guest Comfort

Disney's cast member training program is designed to ensure safety and guest comfort across their resort destinations. The Disney Traditions training program covers essential topics for all new cast members, including housekeeping.

For housekeeping cast members, the training takes place at Disney University behind the Magic Kingdom. The training center has a mock setup of a hotel room with multiple queen beds and two different bathroom setups. One bathroom features a shower with a glass door, while the other has a shower curtain. This is because Walt Disney World is currently transitioning from shower curtains to glass shower doors across property.

After completing their day of Traditions training, housekeeping cast members attend a one-day session at the learning lab in three languages: English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. They then complete additional training specific to their location, which typically lasts 5-7 days.

The facilitators leading the housekeeper trainings are themselves experienced housekeepers who work at a resort 90% of the time but lead trainings for 10%. This role provides an opportunity for cast members to display their love for their job and can be a path to further leadership opportunities. Approximately 3 out of 5 Walt Disney World leaders began their careers in hourly roles, with 75% of survey applicants citing career advancement as a top reason they wanted to work at Walt Disney World.
