Disney's Magic Kingdom Expansion Set to Dwarf All Others
Walt Disney World celebrates its 55th anniversary today, marking five decades of growth and expansion. Since 2021, the resort has opened or refreshed more than 70 experiences, with even more projects in the works. According to Disney, the resort is currently undergoing its largest expansion in history, with three new lands: Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Disney's Animal Kingdom, and a major overhaul of Magic Kingdom.
In addition to these new developments, Disney has been investing heavily in its existing parks. EPCOT leads the way with 15 new experiences since 2021, followed by Disney Springs with nine and Disney's Hollywood Studios with seven. The resort has also added three new resorts and four new entertainment offerings.
Looking ahead to the future, Walt Disney World is poised for continued growth. With over 5,000 new jobs expected to be added in the next five years, the resort will continue to drive economic development in Central Florida. As Joe Schott, president of Walt Disney World, noted during his anniversary remarks, 'That growth creates opportunity across Central Florida, and it reflects our long-term confidence in this community and in the future of Walt Disney World.'
